By way of this week’s Famitsu, Namco Japan has announced a re-work to the incredibly popular arcade version of Tekken 5, the System 256 PlayStation 2-based coin-op currently doing the rounds.
A dedicated revision, currently known as Tekken 5.1, will hit arcades later this year, housed inside a cabinet equipped with PlayStation 2 controller ports, a nice addition indeed.
New moves and combos, tweaked controls and gameplay balance issues are promised, though there is no news on any new characters at this stage, though this possibility has been hinted at.
New IC cards will be available from the new cabinet, another nice addition to what is perhaps the swishest fighting game cab in a long time. No mention of a PlayStation 2 version was offered.
