SPOnG received an email today from Nintendo Europe - nothing unusual there. It was flagged 'Nintendo summer activity', which, as we’re sure you’ll agree, is quite interesting in itself.
Within the mail, we were asked to “Please find attached two releases from Nintendo on its Summer ‘05 activity, including two National tours - the Nintendo All Stars Tour ‘05 and the Touch Me Tour. These are reaching over 31 locations across the country, allowing people to go and play the latest Nintendo games, many not yet in the shops.”
Two separate tours! Impressive, no? The first is the All-Stars 2005 tour showing a selection of games across all Nintendo platforms. The games included are:
Nintendo GameCube:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Mario Strikers
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Mario Power Tennis
Mario Party 6
Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat
Donkey Konga 2
StarFox: Assault
Game Boy Advance:
Yoshi’s Universal Gravitation
Wario Ware: Twisted!
Mario Party Advance
Pokemon Emerald
Mario Tennis
Nintendo DS:
Nintendogs
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Super Mario 64DS
Pokemon Dash!
Yoshi Touch and Go
Mario Kart DS
New Super Mario Bros
The show begins at the Guilfest festival in Surrey on July 15, then moves onto the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show (26-28 July), Sunderland Air Show (30-31 July), Nottingham Riverside Festival (05-07 August), Eastbourne Air Show (11-14 August), Northampton Balloon Festival (18-21 August) and rounds off with the Town and Country Festival, Warwickshire (27-29 August).
Perhaps the Royal Lancastire Agricultural Show is the highlight of the slate, with a load of hotpot-powered farmers playing Donkey Konga surely a sight not to be missed.
Next up is the Touch Me Tour, featuring the Nintendo DS in all its glory. This involves Chrysler PT Cruisers driving the length and breadth of the country, each equipped with 12 DS units. Games on offer include Ridge Racer DS, PacPix, Need for Speed Underground 2, Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of Sith and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. The roadshow begins June 10 at ‘Download’ festival where Nintendo will host its very own dedicated Nintendo DS tent. It then continues on to The GoldCoast Oceanfest, North Devon 17-19 June, BMX Racing European Championship, Somerset 25-26 June, Wakestock Cardigan Bay, North Wales 22-23 July and Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival 10-14 August.
So now you know.
