Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility nVidia Deal Mooted
According to a report cropping up on 1-Up this morning, Microsoft has reached an agreement with erstwhile GPU supplier nVidia that will enable the already-confirmed usage of Xbox software on the Xbox 360.

The report suggests that an agreement already exists between the two firms, sidestepping a potential stumbling block given that ATi now manufactures Microsoft’s home console’s GPU, a fact we revealed two years ago.

No details of the agreement were disclosed, other than that Microsoft will pay some form of rolling license to nVidia, thought likely to be on a per-unit basis with Microsoft paying its former partner for every Xbox title made available.

What is still unclear is how the catalogue of Xbox titles will be delivered to their new platform. We will, of course, monitor the situation and let you know.

I'm still betting on a Live patch. I know not all the old games are Live compatible - but the 360 sure is, and if they can make a general patch that covers it, then there you go.

Still very dodgy ground. I doubt if the whole Xbox catalogue will be supported much in the same way not all PSone games work on PS2.

No matter what happens on the software side, games like Steel Battalion and DDR will still be an issue...

Really, I never found one that didn't. And with the PS2 having "old" processor on-board, it's a whole different boardgame.

Is there a list? Should I have used Google before I asked that?
