The first English language version of Nintendogs will come out on August 22 in the US. For the moment, the only copies of Nintendo’s superb stroke-‘em-up available are in Japanese. The game is not too text-heavy once it gets going but you’re bound to get more out of the game’s features if it’s in your mother tongue. We’re especially keen to know what is going on in the lengthy conversation between the two nerdy-looking men before every frisbee competition.

If you’re planning on importing a US version then you’ll now have another reason to gloat at gun-jumpers who went for the Japanese one. It’s been revealed that there will be three more breeds featured in the forthcoming North American editions of Nintendogs, with each of the three versions boasting an extra pedigree dog. The three new breeds will be Golden Retriever, Boxer and Husky. Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular breeds of dog, known not only for their beautiful, fair coat, but also for a generally obedient demeanour, which makes them easy to train, and presumably ideal Nintendogs. The inclusion of the boxer raises the mildly unpleasant question of whether you’ll have to dock the tail and clip the ears as is common with this breed. The handsome, wolf-like husky is sure to prove popular.

So each of the three versions will sport six rather than five dogs, grouped together as follows:

Labrador Retriever Pack: Miniature Schnauzer, Toy Poodle, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Miniature Pinscher and Shiba Inu.

Chihuahua Pack: German Shepherd, Boxer, King Charles Spaniel, Yorkshire Terrier and Shetland Sheepdog.

Dachshund Pack: Golden Retriever, Beagle, Pug, Siberian Husky and Shih Tzu.

They also seem to have reshuffled the breeds for the American release – our copy is the Japanese Chihuahua version and our dog is a beagle. It seems more than likely that these 18 breeds will all feature in the game when it finally arrives in Europe. Could there even be more? We’ll keep you posted on any more news about out favourite new Nintendo franchise in ages as soon as it breaks.

LOL you only have 1 copy. Is Spong running out of money? Did Spong even go to E3?

There is a Lab pack that doesn't have a Lab? that sucks! I wish they choose some weirder dogs too like a Newfoundland puppy, it would take up the entire screen, or english bulldog. But i guess there are limits to even touch capable dual screen puppy emulators oh well.

And of course they went to E3, there was a week of articles posted "E3:" that told you basically about nothing, proving that they went to E3, otherwise they might have had something to report on"
mostly kidding i liked the E3 coverage, not like anyone else really had any major scoops

We don't pay for games. We get sent them. And there are very few Nintendogs copies available from Nintendo Europe right now, given the game isn't slated for release for months.

Did we go to E3? What do you think?

Did you got to E3? Talk about ask a silly question.

I glad there is a husky in there so I'll opt for the Dachshund version. I can already see myself and my young niece fighting over my DS to play it.

I'm really looking forward to see what the u.s, eu and the media make of Nintendogs in an age where most violent games rule the gaming roost.

Damn good to see the DS library at last expanding on the run up to Xmas. Should be interesting to see how PSP does in the face of it all.

The game hasn't even been given a European release date, has it?

Do NOE send you games that haven't even been confirmed in the west, such as Electroplankton?

That seems a bit strange. Like sending you a copy of Animal Crossing and saying "hey, this won't be out for 3 years" or sending you an e-Reader and saying "hey, this will never make it out".

If they treated their customers the same way they treat members of the press, they might not be the third horse in a three horse race.
