Former Final Fantasy director Hironobu Sakaguchi’s new MistWalker Studio has offered the first glimpse of its upcoming RPG for Microsoft’s Xbox 360, revealing Blue Dragon in the specialist Japanese press.
The first details can be seen in the latest issue of S Jump magazine, along with confirmation of the long-rumoured involvement of acclaimed anime artist Akira Toriyama with the project.
Although no screenshots were offered, various Toriyama artworks were, which you can enjoy in the form of a scan if you hit the forum below this very news piece.
Three characters were bio'ed in the piece: Jiro, an intelligent and organised boy; Kurukku, a girl who’s wise beyond her years; and Shu, a troublesome and adventurous young boy.
The game looks to be an unofficial spin-off of the massively popular Dragon Quest series, currently being beefed up for future consoles deep within the bowels of Square Enix and it's the third confirmed MistWalker title in development, with another RPG for Xbox 360 and a DS title also in the pipeline.
There's no word on a release date yet, with the article merely stating the launch is to be announced, though a showing of both 360 MistWalker titles is assured for E3.
We’ll keep you posted.
