SPOnG can reveal that beleaguered developer Rare will release two launch titles for the Xbox 360, with the UK-based studio attempting to make good its promises made during the somewhat ill-fated Microsoft buy-out.
Regular web pundits will no doubt be used to reading various stories quoting ‘insider sources close to company X” being offered as gospel-strength proof about one bogus news story or another. Like
this one for instance.
However, SPOnG has had it confirmed - yes, confirmed - by senior Rare sources close to both projects that Kameo and Perfect Dark Zero will be available from day one of Xbox 360 launch. Interestingly, both games started out life as GameCube titles. Three platforms and a hardware generation later, Rare finally has them ready.
Although neither game has been seen running outside of internal meetings, SPOnG has been granted access to a portion of the studio’s schedule. The Xbox 360 launch schedule in fact. Both games are marked as ‘launch’.
Expect to see both games featured in snippet form on the May 12 MTV showing, with concrete launch plans to be announced at Microsoft’s press conference before E3 commences. As mentioned in our
report on the Xbox 360 hardware leaks, SPOnG will be running an excerpt of the E3 presentation later this week so - as ever - keep it locked.
