Xbox 360 Japanese Support Gathers Pace
With the original Xbox all but forgotten in the Land of the Rising Sun, Microsoft’s courtship of Japanese publishing and development support for its next console has been one of the key areas of focus for the Redmond giant.

And news in the latest issue of Japanese games magazine Dorimaga sees further gains, with support from Sega and From Software announced. Details are scant right now, though From has confirmed it has begun work on a mech title for 360, as well as beginning to look at possible future projects.

Sega is remaining tight-lipped as ever over what it plans for the machine, though SPOnG feels it is unlikely there will be massive levels of exclusive support for Microsoft, following the mauling several key franchises endured following that path in the current generation of Xbox.

It’s also worth mentioning that Sega is as loose as a divorcee over the bins on a Friday night when it comes to dropping its development knickers, with pretty much every single platform ever announced seeing some game offering or another.

Expect details of Sega and From Software’s plans to emerge next month.

The slinky japanese lady of the night looks at that foreign yankee sailor with an X on his back and thinks to herself "Mmmmm...Maybe, just maybe. Money talks after all"

Sega is no surprise here but From Software who have been really Sony loyal since PSone is.

Not that loyal. From Soft are the creators of one the best Xbox series : OTOGI! They also made a mech game for the Xbox by the name of Murakumo, which wasn't very good. Plus Lost Kingdoms 1 & 2 for the Cube... etc.

Anyway, all this japanese support for the Xbox 2 is really great in theory, but I still prefer to hold my excitement until I actually play a game from Game Republic and Mistwalker, which are the ones supposed to make exclusive games for the 360. Regardless of who their founders are, these companies haven't produced anything yet.

Another concern of mine is whether or not most of these games will ever make it to the west. If they don't I'll be really disappointed.

oddly enough i have been on a guilt fueled sega purchasing spree latley, i just pick up crazy taxi 3 and gun valkyrie used, still on the look out for panzer dragoon and otagi cheap... i probably wont buy out run at full price either, sadly none of this helps segas sales, i just always wanted them but didnt really have the scratch at the time or there was somethign else i wanted more. In retrospect i probably woudl have been better off with the sega purchase on soem of those... i think i actually baught brute force rather than panzer dragoon at one point... i was so desperate for a halo replacement... twas a sad sad day let me tell you... what a festerign heap that was.

You should buy Panzer Dragoon Orta, LUPOS! It's perfect.

Sega has been one of the companies that has gotten the best out of the Xbox over and over again. Jet Set Radio Future is absolutely awesome, and Panzer Dragoon Orta similarly so. OutRun 2 is my most-played Live game (and while it was converted by Sumo Digital, the original ran on Xbox-based arcade hardware). I've not played much by From Software, but I did buy Otogi 2 and it is utterly fantastic.

Another Jet Set Radio then, please?

yea, one of my original reasons for being an early adopter of the xbox was the list of proposed sega games, infact shenmue two was probably enough to get me to buy it alone. unfortunatly i have never gotten into jet set for some reason, i tried desperatly to liek it (hell i bought the first one) but something about the controls just never settled with me. I do want panzer but it seems everyone who bought it knew what they where doing cause i never see it used anywhere... probably have to pick it up online but that may actually turn out to be pricey, i havent really looked.

and on the topic of japanesse games on xbox.. has anyone tried phantom dust? its onyl 20 bucks so i want to get it but i have so many other tthings im int th emiddle of right now i dont know when i woudl get to play it. just wanting to know if it was really worth the time.

Orta keeps turning up in Gamestation near me. Try Cash Converters too.

It's a magnificent on-rails shooter, and so different from the first 2 on Saturn it hurts. So hard...

I hear Phantom Dust isn't any good and Mechassalult i found it to be very boring which is unfortunate for xbox library, however, with From Software mech maniax on board we could finally see Armoured Core game on xbox360.How sweet could it be!?!
