Xbox 360 Developer Support List Offered

Yes ps2's technology is dated but come on when it was being made only dreamcast was out. Nintendo and xbox weren't even made yet. I look at it like this ps2 is close to 100 million sales just like ps one and yet it's the inferior system and most hated (on spong at least).

wrong, PC version of GTA have always sold high. i think they're the best. shooters are meant for the PC, controling is a hell of a lot better.

i get more bang for my buck on the PC any way... its like 20 bux, and i get to expand the game as much as i please... via downloads.

bottom line PC > everything else...

i own an x-box, but it doesnt mean im partial to microsoft... i have a PSP and DS, i dont take sides, i go where the games are.

I don’t hate PS2, I own one, because it’s got some great games. What I do hate is that developers are lazy, and every time a new game comes out for all systems it’s only going to look as good as what the PS2 is capable of because it’s the lowest common denominator. Which is unfortunate. So again, to clarify, I don’t hate PS2, I hate the fact that half the games I play on Gamecube and Xbox look like crap because of PS2 and lazy game developers. I love companies like Capcom, that take full advantage of what the gamecube can do and develop games that push the hardware to the limits. Capcom, Bungie, Retro, Tecmo, are all studios I respect. Some of my best gaming moments were on PSone, its one of my favorite consoles ever made, and I will be first in line for a PS3 because it’s going to be an incredible system… why? Because this time Sony is going to have hands down the most powerful system, its significantly faster then x-box 2, that coupled with the fact that Sony’s still got the best 3rd party support will almost assure dominance in the next generation. I love Nintendo also. I love my Gamecube, Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime 2, and Baiten Katos still get regular play. I think Resident Evil 4 is the best game of this generation so far, and I think the only game that’s going to top it is The Legend of Zelda, which is also on gamecube. I’m not a big fan of x-box because I think if it didn’t have Halo or Fable then it would have the worst software of any console released thus far. Halo was the reason I bought one and it’s still the only reason (besides Fable) to own one.. the first Halo anyways, I thought Halo 2 was overrated, and boring, I wasn’t a fan on Ninja Gained either because it was far too repetitive for me. I will probably buy an Xbox360 however, because it looks promising, but I'll make up my mind after E3, thats just my opinion anyways

No doubt you have become one of my favorite posters on sponge, your a ps2 fan and that is awesome. As for the comment about the developers yeah it's true. If developers were to make a multiplatform game using all the ps2's power it may look alot better than what it looks like now. I mean look at a game like god of war and you can see that a game that is well made on ps2 can be almost as good looking as a xbox game.
Grand theft auto san andreas is another good example, rockstar used everything the ps2 had to offer in graphics and cpu power, true we had texture pop up's but here's the thing so did halo 2 and that's on xbox. I like ps2 just like you cause even though the system is 5 years old it can still run with the xbox and gamcube. I like capcom aswell they did one f**king hell of a job with resident evil 4 for the cube. That game was the scariest and most nerve racking game I have ever played.
As for the comment on ps3, hell f**king yeah ps3 will be the most powerful system ever! Unlike the xbox in this generation that had the most powerful system but the least best games, the ps3 will be the most powerful system and have the best games. So we ps2 fan's that get s**tted on by xbox fans cause our graphics are not better will get our revenge.
People forget nvidia is making the graphics chip for ps3, no more emotion engine for developers to get pissed off at. Also if your into pc graphics you would know that nvidia is leading in innovation. Nvidia came out with pci express and SLI. Imagine a ps3 using pci express and SLI, WOW.
Also cell is the power behind it and soon sony, ibm and toshiba will put that chip in tv's, pc's and any other electronic device. Also if you have read about cell you will know that if you have an hd tv with a cell chip combined with a ps3, the visuals and sound will be enhanced, that also goes for any other devices that are powered by cell.
It's funny that I mention ps3's hd cause microsoft's J Allard talked about hd and how the future is hd, well ps3 users hd will be better than a xbox 360 users hd. Also remember that immersion has won the case against sony and the dual shock, so now dual shock 3 will be completely different from the immersion technology and for the better I say.
On another note the ps3 will connect wirelessly to the psp. Imagine being able to download game demos, movies and music from your ps3 to your psp. I know xbox live is better than ps2's online sevice but sony will learn form their mistakes. What xbox 360 will have online so will ps3, I don't know about revolution though.
Also in response to shediesinred, it's true the only reason to have an xbox is halo and maybe fable. I didn't think halo 2 was boring though but it was a rushed product filled with glitches and was too short for a game that took 3 years to make, on top of that s**tty ending.
So if halo 3 is all xbox 360 has it will fall to second or maybe even third place behind sony and nintendo.

Also, I didn't say GTA would be exclusive to XBox, that would be suicide, because all the damn fanboys are together with PlayStations. And in my opinion GTA has always belonged on PC. The original looked miles better on PC than PS1. I totally agree with CrmsnAngelus about final fantasy. I've played a couple but the only decent numbered one was seven. The tactics series is the best by far, and I'm only looking forward to 12 because the guy behind tactics is working on it.

And yes I have a playstation and only for a couple of games I very much Neo even looked at twice. Ico and Amplitude.

To shediesinred...yeah, you are so on point about the lazy game devs. One of the games I was most looking forwared to on Xbox was Medal of Honor : Allied Assault, instead we waited a year and got a PS2 retread...the lousy, especially by comparison, Frontline(probably as a result of some dirty backroom deal with Sony, no Link)...and the even more lousy Rising Sun(ditto, and which had a movie about the BAR, but no BAR). But you are totally off base about the PS3 having disproporionately large 3rd party support...thats sooo this cycle, the very story you're commenting on is about how much 3rd party support Xbox is going to get... In addition to this list, which is admittedly not anything official, according to Yoshiki Okamoto "a powerful fleet of Japanese designers." is ready and eager to work on games for whats NeXt. So even if Sony will have more 3rd party support(in Japan), which is actually a question, it won't be nearly as prevalent as it was at Xbox launch and in the first few years this time around. In any event, they'll both be out at the same time this cycle, so it'll be a fair fight, Sony won't have an extra year out, and MS won't have an extra year in...

I'm very surprised Sony actually made it, and yes I did buy it long after you may have done but that was because I was waiting for the PS2 to get cheaper because it was the only game I wanted.

In conclusion, Nintendo is the best.

Super NES was IMNSHO Nintendo's high water mark, as well as being the one time Nintendo did everything right (aside from handhelds)...most notably the controller, it was a masterpiece for the time, and given that a d-pad was de rigeur...it was so good Sony slapped two more shoulder buttons and some small bulbous protrusions and created the original PS controller, which led to the Dual Shock, the most important console controller to date. Why they thought they needed to get all bizarro with the N64 controller is just one of Nintendo's little quirks. They (Nintendo) take risks, sometimes they work...sometimes they don't...

Only reasons I never had a NES and so never fell under its evil spell, were my Commodore 64, and the fact that my family owns a coin-op buisness, so I played alla the old Ninty games in superior arcade form. My faves were Popeye and Mario Bros.(original, not Super). I played Super Mario Bros. till I was numb. I never did like Super 2 or 3, either, though Super Mario World on SNES was a treat and possibly best launch/bundle title ever, beating out even Combat for the 2600. Wasn't until SNES that games came out that either weren't vastly superior in the arcades or were exclusive to the consoles. Back then the idea of playing Blades of Steel without a trackball was blasphemy to me. Admittedly the Genesis proved to be a worthy alternative, perhaps even eclipsing the SNES in the end of the cycle, but it was the superior Sophmore effort that proved Nintendo was here to stay as laid more of the groundwork for the next generations.

I'm curious, what mistakes do you think Nintendo made this cycle, if any?

The marketing, and 3rd party support. They got some of both, but no where near enough. The only gamecube games I saw marketed were the launch ones (proving 'surprisingly' as one of the strongest launches ever) and Metroid Prime and Wind Waker. The Gamecube had some good games this cycle, some being ports and multiformat of course, but nintendo specific games were rather good. Of course the two above, and well I have a whole rack of them. Lost Kingdoms, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (a port I know, but a classic one), with Super Monkey Ball 1 proving a single player gem, and the second game as a multiplayer one (monkey target anyone?). Unfortunately Monkeys in balls just don't sell to the Chav crowd which make up the mainstream. If they were just balls textured in burberry then maybe...

And 3rd party support? Well...my friend bought a gamecube JUST for Resident Evil 4. Seriously, he's trading it in as soon as hes done. The Gamecube needed more games like that. Plus Nintendo has this real kiddy image, which is kinda retarded because the people who want adult games are kids themselves playing gta.

I think you're pretty much right, they let the 'kiddy' ball get so far out in front of them, that when they did try to counter it, it was painfully obvious and seemed desperate. They counted on nostalgia to sell to adults, while making sure that parents knew that the 'kid-safe' console was the GC.

The only GC games I'd want to play badly, would be the Rouge Squadron series(another rare 3rd party GC exclusive). But right now my controller is the "S", now if they made an adapter(somewhere prolly)...and I knew someone I could borrow a GC from...and if I didn't have too many Xbox games to play as it is... Not that thats a slam at Ninty, just runs to my tastes and immunity to Ninty nostalgia.

I would also say that the proprietary disc format made it even more kiddy than it needed to be, as well as being pointlessly unique, something Nintendo does often to its detriment. Ethernet Link capability and DVD playback would have been a huge difference, IMNSHO, as well.

I guess since neo is leaving and never coming back *crosses fingers* it would be pointless to inform him that quitting is spelled with two "t"s...twit...

There's probably an adaptar some bright spark has fixed up somewhere on the net. I think Nintendo ought to try and forget about whatever reputation it has and just makes the game it wants to. That was, as far as I know, the ethos Shigeru Myamoto works on his games. But they desperately need new IP. At the moment it's very much Mario check, Zelda and a big fuss check, Metroid check etc.
