So you’re sitting there in your Nintendo underpants. You have a GameCube linked to an SP connected to an e-Reader. You still have your NES connected to your TV. You’re a Nintendo fan. You don’t know how it happened, but it did and you have to live with it.
Well, living with it in New York just got a whole lot easier, with NOA announcing a dedicated store for Nintendo games, systems and house-filling, wife-annoying merchandise.
Housed in the Rockefeller Centre at number 10 Rockefeller Plaza, Nintendo World will be a two storey ‘megaplex’ if you will, of Nintendo-ness, and will include sales areas, a gaming bar and the ability to see and play unreleased titles. The site will also house the newly-revived Pokemon Centre which will see sales of Poke-stuff and host special Pok-events.
No exact opening date can be gleaned at this stage, with Nintendo committing to a spring 2005 premier. SPOnG has heard no word of this retail concept being employed outside of New York at this time, though should it prove a success, we can hope for something similar in London at some point.
