Eidos Interactive,
still steeped in an increasingly messy battle for control, carry on regardless, today revealing fresh renders of original videogame wank fantasy Lara Croft.
With Core Design now sidelined, development has passed to US studio Crystal Dynamics, who wasted no time freshening up Lara’s curves. SPOnG notes that Lara still hasn’t changed her clothes since the mid-nineties. Imagine how she must smell…
Anyway, the new game, fully titled Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend, will see Ms Croft make something of a return to form, back in the safe hands of Toby Gard and sticking to what she does best - pootling around caves looking for treasure.
“Even before the first title launched, Lara Croft had to fight her way into the Tomb Raider franchise, since at the time most game characters were muscle-bound blokes,” said Gard. “The Lara Croft character is resilient and totally unstoppable. In Tomb Raider: Legend, we explore these core personality traits and reveal the Lara Croft gamers have been waiting to see.”
The game will be playable on the showfloor at next month’s E3 in Los Angeles, with the demo consisting of more than Lara swimming up and down in some sort of tube.
Tomb Raider: Legend promises to revive a somewhat downtrodden franchise and is without question the biggest mass-market videogame in development right now. One to watch, indeed. Expect full coverage of Lara’s emergence in the coming months.
