Brand new screens revealed.

Atari’s love of all things Bandai continues with the announcement of the grandly-titled Saint Seiya, Knights of the Zodiac: The Sanctuary for PlayStation 2 along with the first handful of screens. Saint Seiya is described by Bandai as "Cosmo Energy Battle Action" (gotta love ‘em, no?) and is based on the legendary anime franchise of the same name.

The forthcoming video game instalment is faithful to the Gold Saint Saga episodes of the original TV series, in which Seiya – a Pegasus saint – and a host of helpers protect the goddess Athena and assist in destroying 200 years of evil.

"That Bandai have created this new gaming incarnation of the Saint Seiya universe in direct response to the requests of Saint Seiya's legions of fans is testament to their understanding of this incredible franchise," said Jean Michel Perbet, President, Atari Europe. "Saint Seiya, Knights of the Zodiac: The Sanctuary is an incredibly original console fighting experience and will seduce a whole new audience of gamers with the wonders of the Saint Seiya universe."

Saint Seiya, Knights of the Zodiac: The Sanctuary is due for release by Atari Europe sometime in 2005.

I loved this series when I first saw it about 12 years ago, and I still like it a lot. Too bad the game is probably gonna be mediocre like most anime-based games by Bandai. The character models are the blockiest I've seen in recent times and Bandai's anime games usually don't excel at gameplay either.

I, as a Saint Seiya fan, think this is nothing to be excited about. I do hope i'm wrong!

I've seen the first episode of the series and it was interesting but I'd need to see more to decide properly.

I know about Bandai's anime based games of the past but haven't played any to enough judge. What I do know is not all of the are bad. Some of their MS Gundam games are good and some are average. On top of that I'm not sure if Bandai create all of the games based on their anime series.

Here's a list of the better games some of which are available in the u.k/e.u

Ultimate Muscle: Legends vs New Generation
Genre: Wrestling
Platform: Nintendo GameCube™

Ribbit King
Genre: Action
Platform: PlayStation®2, Nintendo GameCube™

I'm sure many anime gamers like myself will welcome Saint Seiya but their are more rewarding series that deserve a game especially G-Force/BotP (even if they are not anything to do with Bandai).
