Something of a strange battle is brewing over in Seattle, where Nintendo and Microsoft are taking pot-shots at each other over a stretch of land that separates their offices.
As the Seattle Post Intelligencer reports, “Nintendo of America has filed a development proposal reserving its right to significantly expand its headquarters in Redmond's Overlake area. But the subsidiary of Japanese video-game giant Nintendo Co. said it doesn't currently have plans to develop the land. Instead, the proposal aims to ensure that a larger expansion plan by its neighbour and video-game rival, Microsoft, doesn't limit Nintendo's potential growth by pushing the area too close to a development cap.”
Perhaps this is a case of Nintendo’s omnipresent, and somewhat justified belief that everyone is constantly trying to steal its ideas, though the thought of J Allard pitched atop an MS Campus building with night-vision binoculars is somewhat far-fetched.
“It's really more about protecting our ability to develop that land in the future," said Beth Llewelyn, Nintendo of America spokeswoman.
