SPOnG was interested to learn last week partial details of an agreement for support between Konami and Nintendo in which some of the biggest franchises in world of gaming were involved.
We can confirm that a version of Pro Evolution Soccer for Nintendo DS is already underway at Konami, alongside a version for Nintendo’s Revolution. Both games will be fully online and feature some platform-specific tricks, the details of which were not disclosed.
Interestingly, Nintendo had to agree to the development of
Dance Dance Revolution with Mario, the GameCube spin-off of the classic arcade bop-em-up, as part of the agreement to secure the top-tier football franchise.
Curiously enough, SPOnG was made aware during talks last week that the Mario Dancing spin off doesn’t really feature too highly on anyone’s priority list right now. As one insider put it, “Do you really think there’s any viability in launching a game that requires a bespoke peripheral at the very end of its lifecycle?”
For the record, SPOnG believes that Dance Dance Revolution with Mario will be released in early 2006, if at all. Perhaps its saving grace is the fact that
the Revolution will be backwards compatible with the current GameCube, thus extending the life of all software and peripherals.
