It has come to light that three versions of Nintendo’s Nintendogs AKA Puppy Times for DS will be made available in Japan, a surprise move for the kooky pet simulator.
In a move reminiscent of the Pokemon roll-outs at the turn of the millennium, Nintendo has decided to split the title into three games. Dachshund Edition, featuring Miniature Schnauzers, Yorkshire Terriers, Miniature Dachshunds, German Shepherds and Pugs; Chihuahua Edition, with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, a Chihuahua, a Shih Tzu, a Labrador Retriever and a Beagle; and Sheba Edition contains a Shetland Sheepdog, a Miniature Pinscher, a Sheba, Welsh Corgie Puppies and Toy Poodles.
It was not made clear if Nintendo will release these smaller than expected cut-down versions outside of Japan, though SPOnG is somewhat split over whether it would be a good idea or not. We were expecting fifteen animals in a single full price game. However, fifteen dogs split into three mid-priced packages does have more bookcase chic potential.
