At SPOnG we like to break your heart. Not with a combination of our good looks and unavailability, but with
interesting stuff from Japan you simply won’t be able to buy. Not only does this make us feel smug as we lie to ourselves that someone we’re friends with at Nintendo might be able to talk to someone else somewhere and get us whatever it might be, it enables us to fill in what is a dire, slow period in gaming news.
So everyone’s a winner.
The latest instalment of angst and heartbreak comes from NCL Kyoto and its recently-announced dealing with soft drink behemoth Pepsi. Not only is a limited edition Pepsi Blue Nintendo DS hardware unit available in a limited run of 1,000, there are stunning Mario figurines and what appear to be sticker rolls featuring scenes from the original side-scrolling arcade and Famicom outings.
We’re off to give ourselves a glimmer of hope now. We’ll bring you more stuff from Japan you can’t buy, soon!
