"Check back on January 27th for some exciting news from Konami! If you love games, you don't want to miss this!" was the demand from the Japanese company. The games industry was almost interested with excitement.
However, it would appear that details of Konami’s surprise may have seeped out into the public domain already, with a new Castlevania title, The Curse of Darkness.
Thanks to some early printing of US gaming magazine Play, the news comes early with an interview with Series creator Koji Igarashi blowing the lid on the re-work of the seminal series.
According to Igarashi-san, Castlevania: The Curse of Darkness will be a PlayStation 2 3D return to the series’ roots, blending RPG with platform action sequences.
We will, of course, bring you updates including screenshots in the coming weeks.

Cool, more Castlevania. Hope it follows a good gameplay path set by previous versions.
Wonder if Konami will give away freebies again like SotN?
Similarities with Capcom's DMC are gonna be poked at mind but a welcome edition all the same.

Anyone who played the original 3D versions on the N64 will tell ya, it'll probably be crap. No getting your hopes up now...
Plus, Capcom beat them to it with Devil May Cry now.
