Sonic Set for Next GameCube Outing

Sega strengthens commitment to Nintendo as DS game also readies for launch.

Posted by Staff
In a recent interview, Sega's Yuji Naka of Sonic Team fame went on record stating that the company plans to release two more Sonic games this year, both for Nintendo consoles.

The recently announced DS game will most likely be a faithful platform outing, though no details have been confirmed details at this stage. Even less is known of the next GameCube instalment, but a direct sequel in the Sonic Adventure series is expected by most.

Stay tuned for updates.

Nice. Just hope these games are better than the previous attempts.

Same here. Although i played Sonic Adventure for a while on the DC i have been really disappointed with the later games. The GBA versions have also been pretty poor as well. Time to see something new done with the blue one.

Nice of Sega to be doing more GC games this year when many are bailing out. Haven't played any of the recent Sonic games but I hope they don't muff it up.

A DS version of Sonic I heard was also on the cards, but will that still be like the E3 demo or something different.

I'm personally hoping that it's not like that - I'd assume it'd be hard to flesh that tech demo out into a full game. I'm also wondering how two screens will fit into the Sonic scheme of things...

I too would like to see something alot different from SEGA as they have done with there previous games.
Just a little thought that i wanted to see if people knew anything about. A few years ago a friend told me he played an arcade game that enabled you to roll a ball (you would roll your hands over it rapidlly, it was built to the machine) as small as a tennis ball that would entail you to move sonic in amzing speed. I never had a chance to play it thinki he was blagging it, anyone shine some light on this.
You may think what has this got to do with Sonic games coming out?

I think that that would be a great idea on the DS that you would need to rub the screen to enable sonic to move. They may have done this already and i didnt get to hear of it. Please let me know if im right.

That sounds like an interesting idea!

If the new GC version is anything like Heroes I just don't want it. I sold Heroes two days after getting it. One of the most poorly designed games I have ever bought from a reputable company.

With Service Games releasing another Sonic on GC it appears as if Heroes must have sold well on the platform. It's strage the way companies such as Nintendo, Capcom and Sega can make a mint out of the Cube when they release good games, yet other companies claim they can't justify developing for it.

I think that they just know Cube owners won't buy their trashy cash-in games.

It is real, and I've played it. It's called Segasonic Arcade, and is emulated in MAME (though only the prototype ROM is playable). It's played from an isometric perspective, and features the characters Ray and Mighty (yes, he of Chaotix obscurity). It ran on Sega's System 32 arcade board.

Dear Yuji Naka, There are quite a few things that i would like to confess between you and i.. To start with I have been a Sonic the hedgehog Fan/Admirer/slave/supporter/worshiper/lover etc. for as long as i can remember..and i enjoy EVERY LAST SINGLE ONE OF YOUR GAMES and Tv Series... In fact falling in love with your enjoyable classics inspired me to grow fond of Sonic the hedgehog (character)and engadged me to fall in love all over again once i first met him... I always draw fan art of sonic the hedgehog and i get better and better each time... but i'm no where near as creative as you nor Sega and Sonic Team. One day I am hoping to support Sega officially in other words i'm "Hoping" that i can join and be apart of the company myself (Just a thought) But there is just one thing that i wish to consider... There's nothing more encouraging than being able to have an oppurtunity through access to Sonic's world.. And I never forfeit having belief in something that inspires me..
Sometimes I come to figure Sonic is really out there whether or not it's on earth or just a different dimension. I would do ANYTHING to meet him in person.. So now i have dedicated my life to Sonic the hedgehog and those who have created him.. I hope that one day we can get in contact...because there is something more to me that i wish to add.. I long for arrving in the Sonic franchise as a character.. but only with your permisson.. I wish to be seen in one of your Series..The one character i wish to be is Jessica the Hedgehog.. a friend of Sonic's.. that way.. I can be with him i can, i would finally be able to live happy.. (Nothing else on this earth intrests me but him) .. If there are any questions due to ANY of my requests.. Please feel free to email me back.. my address is heavenbown@peoplepc.com I would be more than happy to recieve a reply.. Rock on and stay tight with your Creative Career.. until we meet again. Keep up the good work , and keep them going,Master- Sensei _Kneeled_
Sincerelly your #1 Admiring Supportive Fan.. Rachel G. Ande. P.S. (If this is a waste of your time just feel free to delete, and I'm sorry terribly for the long rfesult!) Best of Care!
