Australia to get DS for £80

Innovation, cheap.

Posted by Staff
While Europe continues to wait for the official launch details of Nintendo's DS handheld, the recent announcement that the console will release in Australia for just under AU$200 (£81) next month brings fresh hope of a sub-£100 price tag in the UK.

Though it's unlikely Nintendo DS will be as cheap as £80, retailers do expect the console to launch at a more realistic RRP of £99.99, a tempting figure indeed.

The cost of the games remains a mystery at this point, but if past experience is anything to go by, punters can expect to fork out anywhere in the region of £25-£35 for a copy of Super Mario 64 DS.

That's all for now. Expect concrete details on the UK DS launch in the coming weeks.

I was hoping that it'll be £8o at release as this will be a great money saver for most, but who can complain £20 pounds more for something so amazing, im looking forward to SM64 DS also Metroid Prime.
Just need to wait for the damn release date now.

They better release it in the UK at £80, otherwise me sees few DS units being shipped compared to PSP units ;).

I also hoope they improve the line-up for Europe. At the moment there aren't any killer games on the DS.

What, you mean apart from Wario Ware and Mario?

Wario Ware: Only out in Japan.
Mario 64 DS: Excellent, but a port.
Yoshi Touch and Go: Not out yet.

Etc. Unless you like double-screened versions of EA games. Anyone who advocates the Urbz has no soul. =P
