Sega Japan has pushed back the release of Sumo’s stunning conversion of Outrun 2 for Xbox to January 27 of next year, it was announced via Dorimaga: revealing that the NTSC-J version will have significantly more content than the PAL and US offerings.
In news that makes SPOnG sick, actually sick with envy, the Japanese game will see almost double the content boasted by the original, offering tracks and cars from the acclaimed coin-op rework SP – Special Tours.
As you will be aware, AM2 is poised to offer an upgrade kit for the Chihiro original, which includes a complete rework of the game, all-new courses and licenses cars and is without question the most graphically accomplished arcade racer the world has ever seen.
However, there is hope for western round-eyed devils via the magic of the Interglobal Hyperweb and Microsoft’s stunning if sinister Xbox Live service. SPOnG believes that a massive download content program is being planned for Outrun 2 that will see all the additives enjoyed by Japanese gamers dished out. We contacted Sega Europe this morning for comment, though this proved somewhat fruitless.
Fear not! we’ll dig out the truth in the next few weeks.
