Following on from news that pre-order DS units are drying up, comes a report in the respected Nikkei Japanese newspaper that reveals a staggering two million advance sales of the Dual Screen have been achieved.

This follows on from Game Stop in the US refusing to take any more pre-orders, with Electronics Boutique expected to announce it is in a similar situation within days.

No pre-order figures for Sony’s PSP have been released to date.

(applause) Awesome for NINTENDO!!!!!!!!

Too bad this news doesn't effect me cause I don't like the DS one bit. I bearly like the PSP, I think portable gaming will become awesome in like 5 more years when OLEDs and smaller processors are used. I read that extreme ultra violet embedding will allow up to 100 times more power per chip because they can etch more transistors per chip. With that usless yet interesting information put aside. they could make chips that run the XBOX so small they could fit on a cell phone. So all this hoopla is just a fad right now. When the PSP goes belly up and the DS becomes a distant memory. The real winner will be the next Gameboy. (DS is not the next Gameboy)

I cannot wait 5 years, thats too much, i agree with you , the next big thing will be the game boy next, but i hope that we can play it before ,
imagine a game boy with the x-box capabilities, long batery life and good games . Sony had a rush launching the PSP without the apropiate and cheaper tecnology of the near future. Ill buy the PSP in a year or two , when they improve its battery life ; for the time being , ill go for my DS .

I'm in the same frame of mind as you, claud. Just hope I can bag my DS at launch.

Two million, now we know where all those potential japanese Halo 2 preoreders went.
