Make a rally pun! Colin McRae hits PSP! Screens! Love!

As it says above, the Colin McRae series moves to… well you know the rest

Posted by Staff
Codemasters, the darling UK publisher, has announced Colin McRae Rally 2005 for Sony’s PlayStation Portable, a fact that somewhat underlines the handheld’s emerging third-party strength.

Destined to be Codies’ first PSP game, it will see classic Colin action featuring 30 cars, with the press release decribing such other generic delights as “a diverse range of rally events,” gameplay options including 4WD Championship, Career and Multiplayer modes over the wireless network. Brum.

Not much more to report right now other than the game is due to hit Europe at some point in the Spring of next year.

Enjoy the shots and don’t forget to jot down your thoughts!

Is this just going to be pretty much a straight port of PS2 versions? If that's the case, it's exactly the reason why the PSP is of no interest to me. What's the point of having exactly the same game twice? I'm pretty sure there's no way to port across your saves, at present, so there's no "continue your game on the move, or at at home" argument to justify the expense.

I hear you Yen, and that's the PSPs pro and con. As beautiful as this looks it really nothing we haven't seen before on PS2, and I'm sure many would rather play it at home.

Very nice and close, but no cigar IMO.

The feature of the PSP is portability.

So saying that it must be a different version fo a game in order to make it worthwhile on PSP is like saying that you must only listen to the 12 remix version of a song on your iPod, because you play the album version on your CD player at home.

I don't think it's what options that are included tover the last version. I think the problem is that portability still needs decent battery life and no matter how sweet the games look or are to play, that fact is still gonna matter big time. But that is Sony's fault and no one elses.

I don't wanna bore your arse off with that anymore. I'm sure Codemasters work will speak for itself regardless like previous games. Would be nice to see something else besides this series though. I'd hate to think Codemasters were playing it safe and are a one trick pony.
