Princess Peach 2D platformer lives! Exclusive first screens!

Nintendo shows yet more DS love

Posted by Staff
But where are her legs? Is she on wheels? None of the big questions regarding Nintendo’s omnipresent love interest really matter this morning as we take receipt of the first screens from Super Princess Peach for the Nintendo DS.

The game is described by Nintendo as being an action-platformer and is currently slated to launch as part of the second wave of DS games, in Japan, making the possibility of it becoming a European launch title somewhat high.

From information surfacing today, Peach uses her umbrella as a both a weapon, tool and, somewhat oddly, trusted friend, as she navigates the scrolling environments that look, from first glance, to be something of cross between Super Mario Bros. 2 and Yoshi’s Island; a heady blend indeed.

As of time of press, exactly how Super Princess Peach makes use of the DS’ lower screen is something of a mystery, though we have a request with NCL product analysis which should hopefully be answered later today.

Could prove interesting but please don't stick to so much 2D stuff because there needs to be a balance. I won't judge it on this mind you. Nintendo rarely make rubbish games.

And where is that Kid Icarus game I asked for?

Looks interesting. Been a long time since I played a 2D scroller. Been wanting to play one as well, so I mightget this. Definatly want to know how it plays though.

Here's hoping the lower screen isn't a map or HUD of some kind.

What a waste.

Any game where you prance around in a skirt and umbrella will pass me by. Could end up a great title for some but TBH Peach staring up at you from that screen just gives me the s**ts.
