Following the E3 showing of the impressive Metroid Prime: Hunters for DS, various complaints were voiced claiming that the game was a little tricky to play. These dissenters mainly argued that the action was a little difficult to follow, obscured as it was by the player’s hand and silence.

SPOnG learned over the weekend from sources close to the project in Japan that this is due to be rectified, with a complete overhaul of the game due to be shown within the next ten days.

The main game action will now take place on the top screen, though the fundamental controls will remain the same, meaning that the control system of using the stylus as a substitute mouse/analogue stick remains in conjunction with the D-pad in place. The lower screen will now host the map and Samus’ options, such as morph ball etc…

SPOnG believes this is great news. Not only has Nintendo listened to feedback from gamers, it has made a critical change to a one of its key DS offerings, believed to be a launch title in all territories.

So how will that work then? If all the options are on the touch screen, which you're also using as a mousepad, what happens if you're trying to point and shoot at something and hit an option?

I imagine the options will only pop up when the shoulder button is pressed too. I HOPE that's the case anyway...

I expect a better understanding will most come to light during the Nintendo tour thing in japan. Either way we only have a couple of weeks, to wait to be able to sample it for ourselves on import.

True, Nintendo are listening to us more and that can only be a good thing for everyone.

Now if only Nintendo would do a proper beat em up or Perhaps a DS Pilotwings, Kid Icarus or Duckhunt updates would be nice. Hope someone important is reading this too.

OK, another spong 'exclusive'.

Not only has this news been in the public domain for a fortnight but there is a new image in circulation showing the lay out. (those interested may find it at other reputable gaming sites, ign have it certainly).

Not only that but once you see the image, you will realise spong is speaking out of it's ar*e when it comes to the sepculation that the touch screen is to be used as a mouse pad.

Nice one Spong. You've just been spowned.

I don't get it...if they're packing a demo of a game that everyone is going to buy ANYWAY, why make Metroid a release game? It would make far more sense to release the game a week after the launch of the DS, thus creating more sales for the other launch titles.

There will be plenty of people who will buy it at the same time as the DS though. I dont see the problem with it TBH, i can see what your getting at but i personally prefer to have more choice on the release date. I might not have the funds the following week to buy it.

As for Ultra Magnanimous: If you dont like it then clear off. Wether its right or wrong is one thing, listening to you whine on is another.

Haha.

You just mentioned 'IGN' and 'reputable' in the same sentence. You are IGNs whippin boy and I claim my 5 bucks.

Actually, a lot of forums have the same response when SPONG gets mentioned. Unless you use a site regularly and know how reliable they are, it's not a good idea to go dissing a site simply because you do not frequent it. Before you go claiming I'm an "IGN whipping boy" too, I have defended SPONG's credibility on more than one occassion.
