Warp-Pipe speaks on future plans
Following on from yesterday’s news that Warp Pipe is about to launch a commercial project, we received word from project lead Chad Paulson who dropped some cryptic hints as to what to expect.

“I obviously cannot say much, but I will try to give you as much as I can. We are working on a service that will launch globally between Q4 2004 - Q1 / Q2 2005,” said Paulson. “Although this service will greatly surprise gamers, it is not what they would traditionally expect. [Warp Pipe Technologies] feel that online communities have been commoditized, with publishers and developers focusing on the technology instead of the social and personal aspects that truly make a multiplayer experience unique. In launching this service, we will be addressing these issues.”

Amazing claims indeed and as intriguing as third-party middleware provision can be. You may note that there’s no mention of platform exclusivity and a strong hint towards working around any game, as opposed to providing an out-of-the-box online gaming solution.

We’ll bring you regular updates on Warp Pipe’s activities as the months roll on. Let the speculation commence.
