The head of Capcom’s corporate strategy division, Kazuhiko Abe, has made the pleasing announcement to Bloomberg that the Japanese industry stalwarts will be approaching the next generation of consoles with an admirably large plate. A fully inclusive strategy will see Capcom developing games for the Sony PS3, the Xbox 2 (or Xenon) and also the mysterious Nintendo ‘Revolution’.
Capcom has been a cornerstone third party publisher throughout the history of video gaming, and this strategy should see the continued success of the company behind favourites like Street Fighter 2, Resident Evil, MegaMan and Viewtiful Joe. It is not yet known if Capcom will choose to create platform-exclusive titles (like Resident Evil 4 for the Gamecube or Devil May Cry for PS2) and no light has yet been shed on what games Capcom might have lined up for the next-gen.
In other Capcom news, a teaser website has just been opened to hype up the announcement of a brand new game at TGS tomorrow. We’ll be watching closely, and will report what is going on as soon as it’s announced.
