When the Xbox was due to launch, there had been much interest in an original Tiwak developed title called Tork. Involving the adventures of a caveman child who, like Sega’s Altered Beast, has the ability to switch between different animal forms (including a Yeti, a flying squirrel and an armadillo) it was shaping up to be an entertaining action platformer; of which there are still relatively few on the Xbox. But for some reason Microsoft chose not to publish it, and Tork seemed to have vanished into extinction and off the wish-lists of the Xbox owning populace forever.
It has now been revealed that the good folk at Ubisoft have rescued the title from its near death experience, and will be releasing it this January under the beefed up name: Tork -Prehistoric Punk. For anyone concerned about the possible lack of quality in a two year old title that was taken off the release schedule, the fact that it will retail for $19.99 in the US should be of some consolation. A PAL version is also expected, likely at the less-budget budget-price of £19.99.
It’s difficult to know what to expect from a title of this nature, but SPOnG will keep you informed if it turns out to be worthy of closer investigation.
