In a recent interview with Japanese gaming website www.gpara.com, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi has stated he has two separate projects currently in development at his Mist Walker studio. Although no information regarding these titles has yet come to light, it is assumed that they will both take an RPG form.
Elsewhere in the interview, Sakaguchi-san mentioned the fact that his most inspirational moments occurred when showering and listening to jazz music. There’s probably a fair few gamers who enjoy showers and can tolerate jazz, so perhaps Mist Walker is looking at some form of jazz-infused, hygiene stat-based RPG... or perhaps not.
Sakaguchi-san has previously said that Mist Walker might concentrate on next-gen platforms for its ongoing projects, although no specific systems have been confirmed. The only clues gleaned thus far relate to some recent trademarking activity from Square Enix, who would be the likely publishers of Mist Walker titles.
The name “Radiata Stories” was bagged at the end of June, and at the end of last month, Square Enix also registered “Dawn of Souls”. There’s a distinct possibility that these could be the names of Hironobu Sakaguchi’s next games.
Expect more Mist Walker news in the upcoming months.
