A Telegraph report yesterday placed Ubisoft as the most likely suspect amongst the various companies considered as being in pursuit of an Eidos acquisition. The French publishing giant had been cited as a possible contender as soon as the buy-out speculation started, amidst profit-warnings issued to shareholders by Eidos itself. Apparently, “senior managers from Ubisoft have spent most of the past week at Eidos’ headquarters, hammering out details of the takeover”, so it would seem that such a deal is becoming ever more likely.
However, this information has yet to be finalised and confirmed. Microsoft, Sony, THQ, Activision and Electronic Arts have all been suggested as interested buyers, and each of these could potentially compete with any offer made by Ubisoft. One thing is for certain though - Eidos will be selling-out in the not-too-distant future.
As soon as the official announcement is made, we'll let you know.
