Football Management on the move - Football Director revealed

RW Software to score big on Pocket PCs

As Eidos and SEGA prepare to go head-to-head in the battle for Football Management simulator supremacy, with their respective offerings - Championship Manager 5 and Football Management 2005, RW Software has stepped up with something a little different. RW Software is no stranger to football management games, having developed titles like EA Sports’ Premiere League Manager, Ubisoft’s Football World Manager and SCI’s 4-4-2. Unlike these, however, the newly announced Football Director, to be published by Infinte Ventures, is intended for Microsoft Pocket PC compatible devices.

The idea of a football management game on a portable device may not be revolutionary, but it does make a great deal of sense. There has always been something slightly tedious in the way that standard management sims force players to sit in front of an monitor for hours on end, half-concentrating, ploughing through stats, whilst simultaneously growing roots into their seat. Football Director, however, will let you devise formations and organise players whilst sat on the bus, whilst discussing the nuances of imported Italians in the pub, whilst watching Match Of The Day, or even cheering a real team from the stands.

All the standard features and tasks are included, based on player stats from the 2003/04 season. With over 90 clubs in 4 divisions, and a free update to the 04/05 season stats for anyone who buys the game within the first month of its release, there should be plenty for football fans to dig their teeth into.

If, at the end of the day, this sounds like your bag of onions, head on over to handango.com, where Football Director can be yours for $29.99. Get it while Bush's incompetence keeps exchange rates in our favour.
