Eidos Reveals Championship Manager 5 for Consoles

Top-selling footie management for top-selling machines.

Posted by Staff
Eidos has confirmed that the popular footie management sim, Championship Manager, will be heading to Xbox and PS2 for its fifth incarnation. Although Championship Manager 5 has been developed by Beautiful Game and not Sports Interactive, the team responsible for all of the previous versions, it will still retain the same strain of thoughtful, strategic gameplay synonymous with the earlier games in the series.

It is thought that some die hard fans of the original Champ Manager games may well defect to SEGA’s Football Manager 2005, which is developed by the original Sports Interactive team. However, there has been no mention of a console version of this. So whilst Championship Manager 5 and Football Manager 2005 may be going head to head in the all-important PC soccer management derby this autumn, the console battle may be a foregone conclusion. Until SEGA announces a console version of the SI title, that is.

Expect plenty more soccer-based game news as the new season looms closer.

I really wanna get into these management games, but the action of FIFA 2004 just keeps drawing me back.

I'd like to see a DS version but I know it's early days yet. Would be nice if you could play it elsewhere than at home.

Guess I'll have to wait for the PS2 version.
