Ever since Martin Hollis parted company with Rare, as its head of software, to form a new UK-based development studio, Zoonami, the gaming community has been waiting with bated breath to hear news of any fresh output. As the developer and producer of Perfect Dark and Goldeneye - two of the most well-respected console games ever - great things are hoped for from Zoonami’s upcoming projects.
A few months ago, Hollis had mentioned a game with the working title Game Zero, but almost nothing is known about this project, apart from the fact that it is likely to debut on the next-generation of consoles. Now that the official Zoonami website has opened, there are a few more clues indicating the substance of its work.
The homepage displays a picture of a desk littered with a silenced pistol, a hefty briefcase, some 1960’s style spectacles, a red telephone and an ashtray. Intriguing, eh? Assuming that this isn’t an artist’s impression of Martin Hollis’ office desk, we’d hazard a guess that ‘Game Zero’ will be some kind of espionage or hitman-themed game. Whatever shape it eventually takes, if it manages compare to the quality of Goldeneye, it could be something very special indeed.
As soon as we’ve worked out what’s going on, we shall reveal our discoveries here.
