Paper Famicom as Origami Console First!

Here’s how to make one of your very own.

Following the recent ribbon-cutting at the official Paper Mario 2 website, we have received news of the latest Nintendo paper project. It takes the form of an origami Famicom that fanboys can cut out, create, collect and keep.

Although the art of origami generally involves the convoluted creasing and delicate folding of a single piece of paper, this particular contribution to the arts and crafts world is less demanding on the artist. In fact, it’s worthy of a slot on Blue Peter with its extensive use of blunt-ended scissors and double-sided sticky tape.

Should you choose to embark on your own paper construction, you’ll find the classic Nintendo console authentically recreated in every way, apart from its diminutive size and notable lack of operational functions. It’s even greyed by the muck and detritus of 20 years of heavy usage. But the fun doesn’t stop there, because there are also ancillary templates available so that you can create your own origami Famicom games to ‘play’ on it. Wowzer!

If you’re of a dextrous persuasion with some time to kill, pop along to the following places and print out a template or two.
