Ignition Entertainment has signed a deal with SNK Neo Geo Corporation that will see Metal Slug 3 and Metal Slug Advance slithering into Europe later this year. The classic SNK Playmore franchise is one of the best-loved scrolling platform/shooting series ever to grace the universe, so it's reassuring to know that Europe is allowed to get in on the act.
Metal Slug 3 will be Live! Enabled for Xbox, although there has been no mention of online capabilities for the PS2 version. Metal Slug Advance, obviously, is the GBA version. Both games are due for release this October.
Since the Japanese version of Metal Slug 3 was released ages ago, many SNK fans had resigned themselves to the possibility that it might never get a PAL conversion. However, Ignition has fully rectified the situation. Hopefully this could also lead to European releases for the Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5 double pack (Xbox, PS2), and maybe other Neo Geo favourites like the King Of Fighters series. Here's hoping anyway.
