Nintendo Reveal Limited Edition GBA SP

Banana flavoured handheld for Japan only.

If, like SPOnG, you love anything to do with Japan, monkeys and bananas, then news of Nintendo's new limited edition GBA SP will have you whooping and hollering like a loud American in a whooping and hollering competition. Purchasers of Japanese versions of Donkey Konga 2 (GC) and Super Donkey Kong 2 (GBA) will receive a free piece of card that also happens to be a prize-draw entry form. The lucky one thousand winners will then receive their limited edition Donkey Kong GBA SP which is - cue drum roll - yellow!

With the DK logo proudly adorning the flip-top cover, and tasteful burgundy buttons adding dramatic and impactful contrast to the general yellowness, it is undeniably a collectable bit of kit. Although it would be nice to think that Nintendo Europe might run a similar summer campaign over here, you can bet your bottom dollar that they won't. Alternatively, you could spend your bottom dollar on a pot of yellow paint and a paintbrush.

For a closer look at this special GBA, mosey on over to http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ngc/gy2j/campaign/index.html and have a look at something you can never have.

Oh yeah...a yellow GBASP. I been waitin for one of these for ages, cool. Would look great on me when I'm out in my Bruce Lee yellow jump suit. I'm so happy. LOL.

This is Nintendo making the most of SP sales before they start to dip. I won't bag one til we see the 20th anniverasry NES version.

Don't be suprised if the same cosmetics change happen again with DS at or before the release date, no bad thing really.

The more options the consumer has, the better. And it's obviously a smart buisness move on Nintendo's part, so why not?
