Advance Guardian Heroes – First Official Screens and Art

Saturn's prodigal son returns in miniature form.

For some reason, certain games transcend ordinariness and nestle warmly into the bosom of the hardcore. Ikaruga, Magical Flying Hat, Street Fighter and a few others all managed this, as did Guardian Heroes, along with NiGHTS, Sega’s most requested retro offering.

The re-make, Advance Guardian Heroes, has the added benefit of being developed by Treasure, sending ripples of orgasmic anticipation around certain parts of the gaming world, and here are the first official screens and pieces of artwork released by Sega of Japan.

Hitting Japan in September with the rest of the world likely to follow before Christmas, AGH will be an interesting tester for Sega – does fan demand for retro remakes convert to sales? Perhaps the possibility of any NiGHTS re-make lies with the success - or otherwise - of Guardian Heroes.

Updates - as ever - on everything Sega, right here.

What a result! I saw this lot over the weekend and was well happy to be getting Metal Slug Advance, and now this 2d beauty. Nice to see some cool GBA games still coming out. The characters look a little bit similar but I can forgive that. Can hardly wait.

Three cheers for Treasure.

Hmm, the possibility of a NiGHTS return based on retail success is all well and good, but Radiant Silvergun returning on PSP/DS (with added US/EU release)? That would be fantastic, and the developer has shown clearly that it doesn't mind bringing out it's back catalogue.
