SEGA unveils new PSO: Blue Burst

Phantasy Star Online is back again.

When it was first revealed that a new Phantasy Star Online game was on the way, nobody quite knew what to expect. The last PSO was a Card Revolution and the previous console versions had been re-worked versions of the landmark Dreamcast RPG. Today, SEGA announced that Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst would also follow this precedent.

Blue Burst is a PC only online title that combines Phantasy Star I & II, enhanced with new features and improved graphics. It will only be playable online, and that will cost punters approximately $9 per month for the privilege. SEGA have displayed a clear enthusiasm for re-working their back catalogue, so it will be hoping that this title doesn’t suffer too much in the shadow of the newer PC MMORPGs like Everquest 2 and World Of Warcraft.

PSO: Blue Burst is due for release in Japan on the 15th July.

Boooo, Hisss!!! PC Only? With nearly all the consoles branching for online support (maybe even the DS) this is a big disappointment. Sega's getting notirious for releasing rehashes. I'm sure it will be quality, but I was just hoping for more...

empire were supposed to publish the original online game years a go i even had a very ealry demo that was buggy and had no sound! I don't know what become of that version. The pc already has a stack of these games and i can imagine only die hard sega fans taking this up. I mean there everquest2,WoW and theres even guild wars thats the developers are claiming will have no supscription charges. From the looks of things it just looks like a port with the resolutions bumped up and a few tweaks.

Sega your too late!
