The 11th of June will mark the European release of Ion Storm's Thief: Deadly Shadows for PC and Xbox. Powered by Deus Ex: Invisible War's highly modified Unreal engine, and demonstrating how and why stealth should be incorporated into gameplay, TDS is a relatively sophisticated affair. The US PC release is next week, so the full verdict will follow shortly.
It's shaping up nicely so far, and its E3 appearance stimulated positive chat about the intricate subtleties of shadow-lurking and thievery. The graphics are looking great and the sound and cut-scenes suitably atmospheric. Given that the first two Thief games went down like expensive paintings in an open-windowed gallery, Eidos' third offering should do very well indeed.
