Grand Theft Auto San Andreas: Burgling and Gambling Included

First information on E3 truant revealed.

With Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas missing this year’s E3, Rockstar has deemed fit to release the first general access information for the game, revealing a beefed up Vice City-type experience that exceeds expectations.

Specifically, the game will be significantly bigger than we had thought, with an impressive three cities featured on the disc. Rockstar explains that the whole experience will be set in an imaginary state called San Andreas, based closely on the state of California. Within San Andreas are three cities: Los Santos, based on Los Angeles, San Fierro, a take on San Francisco and Las Venturra, Rockstar’s version of Las Vegas.

The game will play exactly the same as the previous 3D offerings, with one main difference. A stamina metre will be included, meaning that main character Carl Johnson (incidentally, not a pipe fitter from Glossop) will have to eat in order to survive. As to whether this will make for a thrilling food ‘em up or a distracting irritation remains to be seen.

Other big changes include the ability to burgle buildings - sure to be popular with parents and Christian organisations - and the ability to either run or sit around playing in a casino - a feature destined to please Gamblers Anonymous.

Rockstar further promises enhancements to the AI of every character and greatly improved building interiors. Nice.

Expect to see San Andreas on shelves for PlayStation 2 in the UK on October 22 this year.

Forgive my cynicism, but does it sound to anyone else like the GTA series is starting to sound a bit stale and is in danger of becoming an EA-style cashcow / Manhunt-s**t-gameplay-shockfest?

Considering how many spin-offs and cash cow thingies we've seen over the last few years, I don't think GTA:SA needs to excuse itself for following suit.

GTA 3 and Vice City were superb games, and if anything is going to be pushed this hard, it might as well be San Andreas. I reckon it'll be sweet as the proverbial nut.

It sounds like the eating to survive thing is utter drivel to me. The reason that isn't in games in general is because it won't work!

It's sure to be slick and sell by the bucket load. I do wonder about Rockstar's thinking behind the burgling and gambling parts. Is it just a harmless addition to make the new game different from previous ones or is it an attempt to double or triple the amount of moral outrage they will provoke in order to sell more "morally corrupt" games. Hope it doesn't backfire on them by some countries banning it entirely. Especially the UK as I want one! :)

GTA is a big name now, but it's like they are playing it safe. GTA if it isn't careful will become the next TR like disaster.

Overkill is a powerful thing, we may not have GTA at all if we get too much of it.

I think honestly that GTA has perhaps this game and one more after that at the top of the heap. Then, attention will shift elsewhere, hopefully towards Nintendo's Revolution and actual gaming innovations as opposed to rehashed middleware gratuitous s**te.

Rant ends.

Then they could get together with Team17 and Activision to do GTA Underground, featuring skateboarding worms - with weapons - that can drive, and beat up prostitute worms (on Skateboards).

S**t, my horse just fell over, I think I shouldn't have beaten it so hard.

Talking about beating animals, when we all get Jungle Beat, and we're slapping the Kongo Bongos to control Kong, will we all be spanking the monkey?
