Prince of Persia 2 Return

Gamers rejoice as critically acclaimed Ubi game sees sequel.

Posted by Staff
In the run-up to E3, French developer Ubisoft has finally revealed a brand new sequel to last year's 3D platformer Prince of Persia.

An enthusiastic Yves Guillemot comments: "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was the most critically acclaimed game of 2003. With Prince of Persia 2, we intend to build on that masterpiece that will take Prince of Persia one step further to take over the action-combat genre. We will offer you an even higher level of excellence that should once more convince the critics and the public."

The game is a direct follow-up to Sands of Time and will boast the obligatory sword fights and wall-running as well as a new "free-form" combat system. Until we've had the honour of playtesting the sequel, we can't comment on how this will affect gameplay. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the accompanying screenshots.

Rock on!

Let's just hope that the game is as good or better than the last one, and it gets the recognition it deserves.

Still, Sands of Time has been slow burner - it's still in the All Formats Top 40

Definitely good news, PoP is cool. Ubisoft are a cool company, and another PoP should do nicely next to my Splinter Cell games.

The combat system was the worst thing about PoP:SoT, so I guess at least someone over there at UbiSoft definately has their stuff together.

Now all they gotta do is announce that they're losing that ghastly wood-busting particle effect and they've got me hooked for certain.

Totally agree. A slight rebalancing here and there would be everything I ask. Let's just hope it doesn't go the Pandora Tomorrow way and make it FAR too easy (got through PT on Hard in 1 day!).

But if they reuse the Sands of Time & Dagger of Time gimmick i *WILL* be disappointed - unless they really do something fresh with it.
