Gran Turismo 4: Latest Screens!

Polyphony's petrol fetish shows the future.

Posted by Staff
Polyphony Digital has released the latest screenshots from Gran Turismo 4, perhaps the best looking videogame ever (to date) and in doing so, has shown the world the massive scope of the title.

The new batch of screens includes Monaco and Cote d’ Azure locations, and displays some of the more unusual motors available in the game from the annals of motoring history.

As you can see, the rapidly-banned Group B rally duo from Peugeot and Renault has been included, with gamers now able to test-drive the legendary 185 BHP mid-engine Renault 5 AR5, winner of the Monte Carlo rally in 1981, and Peugeot's spoiler, the 1985 205 Turbo 16.

Polyphony is again poised to dramatically hike the expectations of gamers when it releases Gran Turismo 4, now expected at some point between autumn and Christmas of this year. The game is likely to be the final super high budget release for Sony's ageing console and will without question set new standards across the spectrum of game production.

'Monaco and Cote d’ Azure locations'

Those are the Hong Kong and Amalfi Coast circuits. I thought this was supposed to be a gaming site. Yet you cannot get the correct information to go into you're stories.

You can tell the difference between the Amalfi Coast and the Monte Carlo area of the Côte d'Azur? Wowzah, those Polyphony guys really must have paid some attention to detail. LOL.

In fairness, the the article does read "includes Monaco and Cote d’ Azure locations" and not "only includes", which does not exclude the inclusion of shots of other locations, such as Hong Kong! :)

Are they stories? I thought they were writers and gaming enthusiasts!

Well yes I can, I did geography in school :p Cote d’ Azure is in southern France while the Amalfi Coast is located on the island of Capri, Italy. And the story refers to these two locales as Monaco and Cote d’ Azure which there clearly not.

You got me there! What I meant to say was, can you honestly say that you can tell these shots depict the Costa d'Amalfi rather than the Côte d'Azur?

Take a look at these two pictures. If it weren't for the filenames, I'd have a hard time telling them apart.

Anyway, it's a moot point because other sources have claimed it's Amalfi, so it must be!

Visually, apart from the Hong Kong shots, it's not clear that they're recreations of the Amalfi Coast :)

Who cares where it is if the cars just bounce of the walls?!
