We can reveal today that the possibility of a European release of the game-let Gran Turismo 4: Prologue is looking unlikely, the anticipated uber-demo still without a green light for general PAL release.
Speaking to us yesterday, a Sony Computer Entertainment source said, "I don’t think [GT4 Prologue] is going to come out, that's the feeling in-house anyway. There is nothing in place for it, no localisation has been carried out and it is not on the internal release schedule anywhere, though the full game is, albeit without a finalised date".
He continued, "To be honest, given that nothing has been prepared for the game at all, I think that the decision will be not to release it and to concentrate on the full game later this year. Everything we have done has been pretty successful this year and releasing Prologue would be a risk. We doubt it would make any money and there is a suspicion that far from helping game sales, it might have the opposite effect".
The emergence - or lack of it - of Prologue in Europe has been an interesting sequence of events to say the least. From what we can gather, it was only ever confirmed in an unofficial capacity by SCEE and since that point last month, nothing has been heard.
Unfortunately, we doubt that the title will see a European release, though we'll keep you updated.
