Console trumps PC via Internet.

Xbox Doom III Co-op Goes Live!
News coming direct from Activision in the US this morning has revealed that the Xbox version of Doom III will see a hefty slice of online gaming via Microsoft's increasingly essential Xbox Live online gaming service.

At a press event held in California yesterday, New York-based Vicarious Visions showed the game running in two player co-operative mode using two remote machines, surely a killer USP for the delightful-looking console version of id Software's latest iteration of the first-person shooter. As you may know, this mode will not feature in the PC version of the hotly anticipated game, though you can bet your bottom dollar that the PC fraternity will be planning something to rectify this almost as soon as the game is released.

Speaking yesterday, sources at both id and Activision (id Software’s long-suffering publisher) confirmed that both versions of the game will be released this year.

Played the E3 leak last year and, aside from the lush visuals, it really was tedious. I know it was a bout as far from finished as, um, Tomb Raider AoD, but I'd rather have a good solid shooter like the Free Rad boys have given us with TimeSplitters than some glossy, gleaming turd.

Well looking at all the disgruntled PS2 Fanboys who've responded to this I think its a given this title will be awesome, especially on Xbox. Glad to see a developer not just making a simple port of the PC version. Online Co-Op rules and this is going to be one to watch this year along with Halo 2 and Fable :D
