Tecmo Gaiden head-loss confirmed - Exclusive details

Violence 'cut' out of NG. (It's a brilliant pun!)

Posted by Staff
Tecmo confirmed to us yesterday evening that Ninja Gaiden for Xbox will have the grizzly decapitation sequences removed from the final European code, in news that will come as a severe blow to weirdos and series killer gamers across the continent.

Although not impacting upon the gameplay in anyway, the revised code does lack that certain bite you can only achieve with the removal of a head. Still, Gaiden is arguably one of the most impressive videogames of modern times, so this minor detail shouldn't put you off too much.

We can reveal today that it was our German PAL cousins that implemented the change, the with the game being threatened with an outright ban in the country if the offending scenes remained.

But we implore you readers, don't lose your heads! (Another brilliant pun there, for those who may have missed it.)

Why am I not surprised, it's the germans again, playing police for all of europe and the u.k. No offence intended to any germanian folk out there, but I hate this kind of thing. I just prefer to play the game the way it was intended by Tecmo.

Why not just hide it behind a cheat, like was done back in the early Mortal Kombat days? Or perhaps as something you access, after completing NG a few times? More sense, and less hassle, surely.

Oh look, me head just fell off.

This is a bit disappointing though.

Just because some united wimpy 'Nothing-better-to-do' German housewives kick up a stink, the whole of Europe gets shafted. Nice.

the waves caused by adolf are felt even to this day. it's sad that you europeans have to suffer because of some insane guy. oh well.

(*plays NA version of ninja gaiden then decapitates someone*)

if germany are to backwards to appreciate that most gamers are old enought to buy their hardcore porn.

Shame on tecmo for giving in, if they threataned to ban it tough, let the germans cry about it. no reason why rest of europe should suffer.

tecmo wanted to increase sales but im now not buying this game. A key element has been removed and i dont see why i should pay full price for a shoddy version. may as well get a pirate version!!

I don't see what the problem is. I can guarentee to you that, by removing decapitations, you lose NOTHING. I have completed the game 10 fold, and now it like the back of my hand. You won't miss anything.

Complaining about such a minor issue brings me to suspect the maturity levels. If you are as old as you say, then merely import the game.

However, I don't see why the game was changed for all of Europe. Why not just edit the version headed for Germany? Sure, if someone were desperate enough they could cross the border, but even then, what is stopping them from importing?
