Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal Goes Online
We can reveal this morning that the hotly anticipated Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal will see a fully online multiplayer mode when it launches in autumn of this year.

In some of the more interesting news to come from the platform game genre of late, Ratchet 3 will be playable online for up to eight players simultaneously, with gameplay spread across a spectrum of options.

Specifically, games will include capture the flag, deathmatch, all the usual FPS online suspects, with various games seeing teams of up to four players enter the melee. Interestingly, the arena battles will be playable online, as will a selection of 'deep space' dogfight sections as well as several race-based games.

Interestingly, Sony plans a variety of after-market additions to the game, including a stream of new weaponry - all good news.

We'll bring you everything on the PlayStation 2 exclusive Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal right here, as it breaks.

FANTASTIC NEWS! I've always wanted to play Ratchet & Clank online!

Actually, I've never wanted to play R&C or any other platform game online. And even if I wanted, I couldn't, since I live in Europe, specifically in the ghetto half of Europe, where no console has gone online before, and as it seems, none ever will...

So for me the above news reads something like: "Another online game you can't play, but this time it's just as well because it's crap"...

Seems you're a little late here SPOnG... a site reported about 4 weeks ago that R&C3 would be online, it's even in one of the PS2 magazines (PSW, PSM2 or OPS2, I forget) from last month. There's gonna be Halo-esque vehicles with guns and stuff on them too...

And yes, I'm also from Europe (UK), and it's unlikely I'll get to play online due to ntl ****ing up my modem registration.

This sounds good, i can get online so i am ok. If you need support on getting online for ps2 go on the ps2 forums Uk and they are quite good as there is a whole forum devoted to network gaming and there many topics which can help your NTl, AOL or other problems.

I have been on the UK PlayStation forums for quite a long time, I was even one of the first PShosts a while back. I know there are people there who can help network users, but that's not the case with me. Whatever I might say or do won't change Sony's policy regarding my country (Greece) and the rest of the European countries where you just can't get your PS2 (or any other console) online. Apart from that, I'm also not a big online fan - quite the opposite actually - but I know there are PS2 gamers here who would very much like to go online, so I'm kind of lobbying for them!
