In one of the boldest Nintendo DS statements from a credible source to date, Enterbrain President Hirokazu Hamamura has claimed that around 30 titles for the intriguing device will be on show at this year's E3, smashing previous estimates that put any unveiling line-up at well below the 15 games mark.

Speaking to Reuters, Hamamura-san said that, as well as the massive line-up of games, the DS will come equipped with out of the box touch-screen functionality. "This will be a product unlike anything available right now and it will come with a touch panel," he said, confirming our exclusive news from earlier this year that the device would see this implemented.

Expect full coverage from the showfloor next month.

Mmmm. Interesting stuff. Can't wait to see how it's all gonna work. 30 games is a good number, even if just for E3. Fingers crossed for another rpg next to Zelda. Or maybe even the game that Waverace should have been, with the futuristic speed boats. Wishful thinking.

Excellent, looks like theirs alot of 3rd party support for the system. I have to admit I was skepticle of the idea at first, but the more I hear, the more excited I am about it.

I hope to see some new titles from Nintendo as well as some well known franchises. And a remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be well welcome! Go Nintendo!

RUBBISH!

So now we can play Zelda and Mario games AGAIN, only with the added excitement of being able to TOUCH THE SCREEN?

Surely the law of diminishing returns must be gearing up to unleash one hell of a backlash on Nintendo for shamelessly rehashing the same game ideas year after year?

Absolutely, how bankrupt Nintendo seem when you put them up against Electronic Arts, who NEVER shamelessly re-hash the same game, adding nothing but a new last number on the box, or a picture of Tiger Woods.

How lame Nintendo seem next to Microsoft, who have sooo many of their own ideas that they are keeping them all sectret until they finish ripping off other people's.

Nintendo are no worse than anyone else. Everyone's waiting for a good idea to come there way, just so they can stamp "uncommercial" on it and laugh it out of their boardrooms.

there's just no way that's 30 1st party titles...

and 'touch panel' doesn't mean touch screen; unless it's a mistranslation it could easily mean some kind of trackpad for analog control.

It will most likely be a mix of 1st and 3rd party games. Whatever the are it's bloody good news. Just wish the same could be said about GC, coz once again I have a Nintendo system, that's beginning to starve from a lack of a decent games diet.

So they're making a huge two screen pda? With 30 games? Like pokemon 3D and Mario Cart 2 screen edition? I don't know it sounds bad to me.

This does sound interesting; however, until Nintendo realizes that their image is that of a children's gaming company and the big N does something to include adults as a part of their marketing strategy, they will not regain their "gaming superpower" status.

sweeeeet! wow thats awesome. 30 titles, probably a mix of 1st and 3rd party games...naw, why hasn't SPOnG told us about any 3rd party support? well whatever looks like an awesome lineup and touch screen looks cool....

some things nintendo has tried have made me skeptical (cel-shaded zelda, animal crossing...), but now i can trust them with odd ideas, which turn out wonderful works of art. most likley DS will be the same way...

Ain't that cool... us oldies are now an important target market for computer gaming companies.

And it will only get worse, I mean, I'm gonna be a gamer until I die (which if they get that stem cell research sorted out could be a good 150 years from now). Imagine what kind of games I will want to get for my 100th birthday. It certainly won't be Mario Kart 3D 53, or Knockout Kings 2072. It'll be wheel "Chair Grand Prix", and some game that involves me taking clandestine photos of scantily clad co-eds. Or something.

But now every thrity-something in the world has a console, and more money in our pockets than those snotty little kids, games companies have gotta start paying attention!
