This week's Famitsu magazine includes the interesting revelation that Capcom is already underway with a sequel to Biohazard Outbreak, the online PlayStation 2 update to the one of the firm's most popular franchises.

According to the report, the essential gameplay elements of Outbreak will remain unchanged, with the entire character roster from the original remaining in place. Additional online game options were also mentioned.

This news may shed a ray of light into the PAL region following the bitterly disappointing news that when Outbreak launches in Europe in September of this year, it will be an entirely offline affair. Given that the PAL version of Outbreak 2 shouldn't ship for perhaps 18 months or so, it is likely that Capcom will have its online European house in order.

Nice news and all. but I'd be suprised if they leave the online option in for the PAL version. We have been stiched up so many times by Capcom. Another stab in the back, or shot in the dark is expected soon. Lets all wear targets to make it easier for them. 18 months, don't make me laugh. Thats a bloody long zombie time in this industry. Most folk will have the first version by then, and will not be so keen to shell out for it again. Break out the tightrope of pride. It's a long way down, before you make a messy splat on the ground.
