Nintendo has updated its official US releases for the forthcoming year, indicating that the territory can expect sequels to the likes of Star Fox and Metroid Prime in time for the festive season. The full list reads as follows:

GameCube

  • WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$ - April

  • Custom Robo - May

  • The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures - June

  • Pikmin 2 - August

  • Donkey Konga - September

  • Geist - Fourth Q4

  • Mario Party 6 - Q4

  • Mario Tennis - Q4

  • Metroid Prime 2 - Q4

  • Paper Mario 2 - Q4

  • Star Fox 2 - Q4

Game Boy Advance

  • Donkey Kong Country 2 - Q4

  • Mario Party - Q4

  • Mario Pinball - Q4

As you can see, the company's first-party GameCube offerings are pretty grim, with no mention of the mythical Mario 128 or any kind of Wind Waker sequel. But things look a little brighter for the GBA, with the inclusion of the previously unannounced Mario Party and Mario Pinball - the former most likely to be a scaled-down, linkable version of the GameCube title, the latter something akin to the popular Pokemon Pinball games.

In another announcement, the company has also confirmed the release of the Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter, which is set to hit the shelves alongside Mario Golf: Advance Tour in June, and is also promised to come bundled with bonus versions of Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green.

They'll be good games I expect, but I'm disappointed still. What has happened to Nintendo? They used to be the bastions of game design, but I see nothing really new that excites me to spend my money. I applaud the DS idea and their other hardware, but as for the games they have to do better than this. Geist and Custom Robo look cool and I'll get them, but the others I'll wait til the get dirt cheap at retail. A sad day indeed, and with third partys' dropping some GC games things might get worse still. It's like a bar with no alcohol, everyone is leaving to go elsewhere.

Pride comes before a fall, but will they get back up for the next round, and try new, original ideas?

Dude, I'm with you. But I don't think the problem is just a Nintendo Towers... games altogether are lacking in originality. Everyone has seen EA become the biggest, most powerful force in computer games by re-hasing the sdame crap year in year out. And they all think that that must be the formula to success.

The industry is going down the tubes... innovation is a dirty word, instead we just get another round of FPS and Driving games. Another set of sports "sims". And the public just laps it up, while letting games like Rez and Prince of Persia sit on the shelves.

Nintendo don't have the force (at present) to market originality into success, so they are going with titles that they know will be a success. They will be good titles though!

I totally agree with teh comment about originality in games, for ages now, its been the same genres over and over. Everynow and then, however, i see a game such as mister mosquito, where you fly around huge out door areas, and try to suck blood of people, while also followig a story line from level to level. Now if you ask me, that sounds fun... but no one was asking me... Me and a few friends think that we have stumbled across the most ultimate game (which im sure many, MANY people have thought of before). The game will consist of your character (could be personalised, could be a set character, but thats really nto important). In the game you simply have to make it in life. Imagine sims, but with total controll over charater, and area, and everything. Total controll over everything. to start ou could be living with your parents, or living in an apartment. You could get a job, get promoted, become rich, famous. Or you could live life as a poor man, working as a janitor. But the thing about this game is that you would ACCTUALLY do youre job. You would ACCTUALLY buy your own food. You would ACCTUALLLY be able to do what you want. The possibilities would be gigantic. of corse, there would have to be certain boundariesto what is possible, but by all means, make those boundaries as far as possible. also, it would take ages to make, and alot of money, but if computer games companys merged together to create this ultimate game, then it would cut the work for each company, and fraction the cost of each indavidual company. Think about that. I KNOW I would buy this game for certain.
p.s. Stay in school!
