Amazing new id game details revealed by Carmack!

The new game will feature…

Yes folks, id Software’s John Carmack has made some of the most explosive statements ever in the games industry, revealing an earth-shattering new direction for the acclaimed developer’s next project.

In news that will come as a bombshell wrapped in a cloak of amazement to fans around the world, he revealed that the next game his studio releases will feature fire extinguishers at some point. And not just any fire extinguishers, environmental ones, with some kind of small use.

But wait, there’s more! id’s next game will also see the full inclusion of waste paper baskets, a feature that elevated Doom III’s status from game without bins, to game that, you know, did have bins in it.

Speaking in San Jose, Carmack caused near chaos in stating, “It's going to be [set in] the near-future. A present day or near-future thing where we can reuse the fire extinguishers, the waste baskets and some of those things like that [from Doom III] in the game.”

Fans are also hoping for chairs, filing cabinets and perhaps even water coolers in id’s next offering.

We can only dream…

Yeah, because I was really hoping for something dull and uncool that I HAD seen before... no hold on, that's what I was EXPECTING.

This article seems a little below the standard I've come to expect from spong. Yes it's all true, this news is unimpressive, but where's the context, the larger picture, where Carmack was talking about the massive amounts of work needed to make modern games and how re-usable bits - like fire extinguishers - are becoming more of a priority because it reduces devtime so dramatically?

It's all fun and games until someone loses.. er... the context.
