Speaking at the Games Developers Conference, famed Nintendo producer Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that a version of Zelda is underway for the NDS over in Kyoto.
At his presentation entitled 'The Evolution of a Franchise: The Legend of Zelda', he said, "With this new expressive quality, and with the upcoming release of the unique Nintendo DS system, I think we will see more changes coming to the franchise. The likes of which we can talk more about at this year's E3, when we'll also talk about development of Legend of Zelda Wind Waker 2."
So there we have it: Zelda is pencilled in for the DS - excellent news indeed. Though one question remains – do Aonuma-san’s comments hint towards possible GameCube-to-DS compatibility. Reading between the lines, perhaps they do.
