According to retail and press sources in Japan, a significant showing of brand-new Sega software will be revealed next month as the firm aims to add meat to the somewhat paltry release schedule.

Sega Japan will hold two meetings, one for Japanese retail and one believed to be for international retail buyers. Dubbed "Sega New Work Private Meeting 2004 Spring" the meetings will take place in Tokyo April 7-9, followed by an Osaka showing on April 13-14.

Sources have confirmed to us that a massive amount of new games will be on show, saying, "My jaw dropped when I saw how many - and you will be over the moon at what's coming out," hinting that amongst them will be updates to some of Sega's biggest franchises.

Which only leaves a bout of wild speculation to go at. Shenmue III perhaps, Monkey Ball 3 almost certainly. You know the score, we’ll leave the rest of the pondering to you, and of course, as soon as more info becomes available, we'll bring it straight to you.

New software. Nice. Well done Sega. I just wish Nintendo would do the same and stop hiding behind Zelda, Mario and Pokemon. Sure Pikmin is cool, but we need something more new non cutesy, besides Metroid. This is all part of why Nintendo are losing out. Sony have the likes of Syphon Filter, (even though it's 989 Studios' game, and Sony bought 989 like candy) and Sega have Virtua Fighter and Panzer Dragoon etc. Nintendo have......mmmm, exactly. If Nintendo don't be careful, they might end up like Disney, and lose out cause they fail to change, or try something new or different. But hey, is this already happening? We want horror games, beat em ups, rpgs, shooters, and much death. Not sugar sweet platformers etc all the time. Bring on SoR4, Sega. Kick skull and ass ((SSBM isn't really a proper beat em up, it's like big, fake, panto-style wrestling, without spandex)).

I think Joji was refering to the lack of quality, teen and adult themed games published by Nintendo - not third party GC (and cross platform) games.

No, Capcom has RE4.

>Veautiful Joe

Capcom again

>Geist

Granted - true Nintendo published game

>Kuju

Developer responsible for numerous titles on numerous plaforms - what's your point, caller?

>(Zoonami)

A developer working on "Gamezero" - no details available yet, so hardly worth mentioning.

>supermonkey ball...

Sega (great game, but still dressed in kiddies clothes)

>Baten Kaitos

Namco

>PSO 1,2,3

Sega, and certainly not GC exclusive

>MP2

Granted - and mentioned by Juji

>SW:RS

From Lucasarts

Out of all of those games, on two are Nintendo published titles. Not a very strong show, is it?

Cheers for that Config. As you can see my argument holds some weight. The last original games that Nintendo made were Waverace and 1080 Snowboarding back on N64. That means that they have been getting fat, doing nowt gamewise but rehashing the same IPs, apart from Pikmin. If they are trying to change their kiddy image, where are the true beat 'em ups etc to compete with PS2 and Xbox? Billy Nowhere, that's where. I love Nintendo games, but Nintendo ain't really listening to what their customers want like Sony or Microsoft do. Goldeneye was cool, but even that was by Rare, and a film license. So NoJ, prove me wrong. Show us all you ain't a one trick Epona. Go Sega go..
